not great. Moo Shu pork was practically meat-free and soggy. They forgot the sauce too which of course makes the dish.

Food is mediocre at best. I would not have ordered from this place again but my coworker wanted to try the preserved pork and cabbage noodle soup I had yesterday. I ordered from seamless and was given a confirmation time of 10-15 minutes. I got there 15mins from my confirmation email. I checked on the order 3 times during the extra 25mins I had to wait. The cashier tells me that the confirmation was for 20-30 mins even though i should her my confirmation email that clearly says 10-15. She shrugs and says she doesn't know why. I kept wondering if they wrongly gave my food to someone else. Finally I get my food and have the cashier tell me that I should really call; they give priority to customers that call. If seamless web is really at the bottom of your priority list, then maybe this restaurant shouldn't really be here!

Decent but not good. I have had much better food for half the price.

Poor, Food was burnt, and the delivery guy called early and I had to wait 10 minutes for him to show up after he called and said he was in the lobby. Don't know what happened the food used to be good.

Terrible service, DO NOT order from here!

Kind of expensive for average food.

I had the sesame chicken. It was barely passing.

I ordered pan fried noodles. Noodles were fried to a point where I couldn't chew it. The portion was so small that even a 5 year old would be hungry after eating it. Seafood was extremely fishy. Vegetables were not fresh. I had a stomach ache because I couldn't digest the noodle. I was extremely unhappy and wrote a complaint to seamlessweb to get a refund. Don't waste money on food that shouldn't even be sold in the first place. It's wayyy below standard. Worst order I have gotten thru seamlessweb.

Food was crummy and flavorless, delivery was SLOW and food arrived cold. never again.

I enjoy the beef skewers from this restaurant, and they can be hard to find and tough to match when you find a place you like. Definitely will order from here more in the future.

Solid Midtown Chinese spot. Lunch special is affordable and filling. I like the Beef with Broccoli, Shanghai Fried Rice, or Lo Mein especially.
Posted 9 months ago by Richard B.
the food is pretty good, more authentic than most. However, some of the dishes are quite salty. The peking duck is really good!

food was ok. There was nothing bad or anything special.

food is good, but they messed up my order royally on the delivery- not only was it over an hour late, but they delivered to the wrong floor, left it on the wrong floor, and then claimed they called me when they didnt

Their dumplings are fantastic!

Great lunch specials if you are in the mood for chinese. It was hard not to take a nap under my desk after eating it but that was to be expected with chinese food. I recommend the chicken and broccoli.

Best Chinese food outside of Chinatown
Posted 9 months ago by Catherine Z.
Pretty average chinese food. The dishes are really basic, not much more than a meat and maybe one or two vegetables. They taste pretty okay though. Not overly spicy or particularly flavorful. The fried rice is pretty much the same way. Not unexpected in any way, but more or less basic, run-of-the-mill fried rice. This restaurant will definitely satisfy a craving for chinese food, but nothing extraordinary should be expected from it.

Their sesame chicken is some of the best I've ever had - anywhere. The lunch special is a good deal, too. Their delivery time is kind of long, but it's worth the wait.

needs to have brown rice.

kao pao chicken was good. sauce was kind of heavy and different veggy mixed would be better

Never ordering from here again because: 1) They got my order wrong and didn't include a lychee dessert that I had ordered. 2) They didn't read the "special instructions" I had written. 3) The part of the order they got right, seafood noodle soup, had a tiny serving of seafood at the top and was mostly noodles. Noodle soups I've ordered from other Chinese restaurants didn't have nearly as high of a "noodle-to-other stuff" ratio. On the plus side, delivery was relatively fast.

I really enjoyed the lunch I ordered from there. Delivery is also very fast. The food was fresh. I will continue to order from them.

They don't offer brown rice and did not call to let me know when I requested it with my order. My bad for assuming that all chinese restaurants offer brown rice. Their bad for not letting me know my special request could not be fulfilled and then being rude on the phone when I called up to ask.

absolutely terrible. this place used to be my go-to for Chinese food in the city. i don't know if they have outsourced their delivery or something but the food sucks now. SUCKS. their general tsos used to be my favorite. now its GARBAGE.
Posted 11 months ago by Joshua S.
i think my one star designation pretty much sums up my delivery experience. if you insist. the food was drenched with oil, the restaurant over seasoned everything and the rice wasn't even cooked properly. who screws up rice? perhaps the person cooking my chinese food wasn't chinese to begin with. just saying....

Gross. Oily vegetable roll; doughy dumpings; chewy broccoli. Very disappointing.

Pork buns were OK but probably wouldn't order again. Also ordered the Shanghai fried rice and pan fried noodles, both of which were excellent. One of the best Chinese food places we've found in the area so far.

top quality food - the soup dumplings were perfect as was the singapore noodles (not greasy at all).

Long time customer of Evergreen. Have never ordered anything that didn't taste fantastic. Excellent packaging to keep hot foods piping hot. The delivery time is a bit long but worth the wait.

Lets go ahead and give 3 stars to this place. The chicken and cashews were yum yum good. The chicken and broccoli was also above average HOWEVER the meat in the won ton soup left something to be desired. The shrimp dumplings were average to below average. Would not order them again. The chicken wings were about as good as you could expect from a chinese restaurant so no complaints there. Not great, not horrible. DO NOT GET THE LEMON CHICKEN< YUCK

This place used to be terrific but has really gone downhill. The General Tso's chicken used to be delicious. No more. They've changed the sauce which is now a much less tasty orange-esque sauce that's a little too sweet. The cooking techniques have also changed. The crust is mealy and the chicken mushy. Other dishes are still good, but what was the best General Tso's in the city is now really disappointing.

Absolutely horrible. Obviously don't understand that there are hundreds of Chinese restaurants in Midtown to choose from. I ordered the diet dish with jumbo shrimp, $5 extra and got FOUR TINY shrimp and about a cup of vegetables. I called to complain and the woman was extremely rude. I won't be ordering again and will warn co-workers not to either

We ordered a variety of items and everything was very blah. Dumplings were nothing special and the chicken and broccoli had no flavor, and if you could say there was a flavor it was gross. would not recommend!

The food is very good, and exactly what I wanted when I picked Evergreen Shanghai, however the delivery man was very rude. He felt the need to complain and tell me that I shouldn't have ordered from his restaurant because my apartment, located on 53rd and 9th, is too far from his restaurant and it was inconvenient for him to make the delivery. Hey, Evergreen, if you don't want to deliver to my area change the delivery radius on your vendor account. Don't complain to me about it because I really don't care as long as I get my food. It's your own fault. Good food, but rude delivery men if you don't live near the restaurant. I tipped him. Nothing more I can do if the restaurant shows up in my delivery options.

Shao Mai Shanghai style were these dumplings filled with something similar to what I often get at dim sum wrapped in tea leaves. The Shanghai fried rice is what I'd usually call "Young Chow" or "Yang Chow". Everything I had was delicious.

Overall was correct for my lunch. Delivery: a tiny bit late but i won't blame them since it's Thanksgiving. Food presentation: good, and overall each container was filled to the top. Food quality: correct, I'm very picky about Chinese food, and I rate it of correct quality for NYC. The recipes were all correct, it looked freshly-cooked but it was missing a bit of flavors like most of the Chinese restaurants here. Conclusion: Lunch specials are an amazing deal.

Horrible order overall - the shanghai spring rolls were so poorly fried that there was oil dripping off them, and they weren't even crunchy - just soggy because of oil. The general tso's chicken was really bad - the chicken was totally overfried because you could bearly bite into it, and the sauce was super-thin, waterlke consistency. Will never order from here again.

Food is pretty good. Their service is terribly inconsistent. I've ordered from there multiple times and the last 5 times I've gotten food, it's taken over an hour each time. My only issue with this is that they estimated that it would take between 25 - 40 minutes. Only order from here if you want to wait at least an hour for your food.

Food usually ok, but the General Tso's chicken I just ordered tasted like strips of fried cardboard. I think 50% of the pieces didn't have any meat in them (just fried up pieces of batter)
Posted 4 years ago by Andrew M.
Terrible service. Food took 75 minutes to arrive even though time quoted was 25-40 minutes. The food was not hot and it wasn't very tasty to begin with. I will never order from Evergreen again.

Amateurish. They use soy sauce for Chinese cabbage w/ black mushroom, which should be a light dish seasoned only by salt and light broth. The taste is ok, the ingredients are fresh, but it's really second-rate Chinese food that any one can whip up.

Six months ago this restaurant was one of the best. The seafood dumplings and chicken stir fry were marvelous, and the sushi could be counted on. However, this restaurant has slid downhill quite quickly. Another major complaint is that the delivery men call 15 minutes before they arrive to say they are downstairs (if you work in a building). In conclusion, in a highly competitive NYC restaurant market, only the strong, savvy, delicious and customer-friendly places survive. Unfortunately, this one has already died.
